I am Gregory Kearns, I’m a writer based in Liverpool – mainly I write poetry, but I have been known to write in other forms as well. I am now going to seamlessly switch to third person to give the illusion of a super professional and objective bio – I just wanted you to know now it is me writing this and I feel incredibly awkward referring to myself in the third person.

About Gregory...

Gregory Kearns is a writer based in Liverpool.

His work deals with grief, masculinity, difficulty with religion and otters. As a neurodivergent writer Gregory is interested in how we testify to experiences that resist being languaged and how we can use poetic form to challenge the tyranny of standard grammar.

In 2022 Gregory won the Northern Debut Award for Poetry. He has been published in Introduction X: The Poetry Business Book of New Poets, Bath Magg and Ink, Sweat and Tears. He has worked on projects with organisations like English Heritage, Tmesis Theatre and No Dice Collective. Since 2020 Gregory has been a proud member of The Writing Squad’s Board of Directors.

Gregory has a wealth of experience leading workshops, has a middling amount of experience editing others’ poetry and has a little bit of experience guest lecturing.

From 2017 to 2022 Gregory worked for The Brain Charity, part of which involved organising their annual Burns Night Supper. 2022’s Burns Night Supper involved the Liverpool Poetry Prize which Gregory played a significant part in coordinating.
